Tere brings over 18 years of experience as a faith-based community organizer with the Faith in Action Network and the Laudato Si’ Movement (LSM). She is a native of Puebla, Mexico, an immigrant in California and is fluent in English and Spanish. She began her career as a youth organizer and has led campaigns to invest in recreational activities for youth, expand access to healthcare, increase opportunities for students of color to attend college, support passage of comprehensive immigration reform, hold police accountable and encourage civic participation among underrepresented communities throughout California. At LSM she was focused on increasing Catholic participation and engagement globally in caring for creation and achieving climate justice. Currently, she is the Director of Programs & Strategy for Sacramento ACT, an affiliate of Faith in Action and is working to streamline systems, processes and data flows to advance community organizing campaigns around educational equity, affordable housing, and climate justice. She has a 12-year old son named Diego who inspires her to work for a better world and a healthy future.
