Ruchi leads the Atmashakti Trust, an organization that impacts over a million families across 12,000 villages in Odisha, India. Under her guidance, the organization has supported thousands of villagers in winning rights, benefits, and justice in some of the poorest communities in the country, including funding for education, access to pensions and health. Village-based staff are supported by locally raised contributions, including modest rice contributions. A Twitter warrior network has achieved local victories by getting the attention of municipal officials when other approaches didn’t work, inspiring other organizers working in low-internet-access communities. Ruchi is a graduate of SMT’s Digital Campaigning Certificate Program and of the Nonprofit Leadership (NPL) program at the University of Pennsylvania in the U.S.
